Jeff Tingey

Jeffrey (Jeff) Rand Tingey  May 13, 1952 - June 7, 2017

Centerville  - Our dad, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away on June 7, 2017 at the age of 65.  Jeff was born May 13, 1952, to Ralph H. and Martha R. Tingey.  He spent his youth growing up in Centerville working on his father's farm where he was taught a strong work ethic.  Jeff graduated from Viewmont High School and obtained his BA degree at LDS Business College.  He worked throughout his life as an accountant. Jeff married Donita Banks on September 25, 1977, in the Salt Lake Temple.  They were later divorced.

Having a gift in music, Jeff was constantly asked to play in his LDS Ward on the piano or organ.  He played by ear and could really make music come to life.  His tastes in music varied; however, his singing voice left a lot to be desired.  Jeff endured a lot of teasing in this regard.

Many evenings were spent at Jeff and Donita's home having homemade caramel corn and playing games especially Monopoly.  Jeff was quite a cook and he put together many delicious meals that everyone enjoyed.

Jeff is survived by his four children; Ryan (Emily), Leslie (Greg Cardall), Matt, Blake (Rachel), his six wonderful grandchildren with one on the way and siblings; Ken (Colleen), Barb, Brad, and Ted (Michelle).  He is preceded in death by his father Ralph and his mother, Martha.

The family would like to to thank Russon Brothers Mortuary of Bountiful for going the extra mile in every way.  A graveside service was held on June 13th at the Bountiful City Cemetery.

Jeff, you are loved and will be dearly missed.

Fellow classmates,

Sorry for being tardy on sending condolences for my friend, Jeff Tingey.  I am sad to hear of his passing.

I considered Jeff to be such a great friend in high school.  We've lost touch since our Viking days, but my memory of him will never fade.  I think we came to know each other in seminary.  One great memory I will never forget is the day that Jeff, Brad Green and myself sluffed seminary and took off to Salt Lake (in Brad's hot car, of course), to attend General Conference.  (Now that was a worthy sluff!)  Jeff came to my house, VERY early on my 18th birthday, along with Kathy Rich and Julie Johansen, to wake me, blindfold me, and take me out to breakfast in my pajama's!  Another memory I'll never forget.  Jeff could always keep us laughing.  He had such a great sense of humor.  He could play the organ like it was second nature to him.  I remember listening to him play in the home of his parent's.  He was always a good friend to me, and for this I will be forever grateful.  Thank you Jeff..
