David Grant Woodhouse, our wonderful and beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center due to a heart attack from diabetes complications at the young age of 56.

He was born April 17, 1951 in Salt Lake City, UT.  He is the son of the late Grant Molen Woodhouse and Dawn Stoker Woodhouse. He married his eternal companion, Dulane Joy Heeren, in the Los Angeles Temple on August 4, 1973.  They are the proud parents of five children.  April, Tammie (Lisle) Moore, Jesse (Tiffany Woodhouse, Gina (Nate) Christensen and Wesley Woodhouse.  When he was a young boy, his family moved to Pasadena, CA and then druing his early teenage years, his family moved back to Bountiful, UT.  He attended and graduated from Viewmont High School in 1970.  He served an LDS mission in both the Hearing and Deaf Programs in the Calif San Diego/Anaheim Mission from 1970-72.  There he met his eternal companion who was a sister missionary serving a full-time mission for the deaf.  He setteled in Logan and attended USU.  He also attended BYU, then graducated with his AAS Degree from Utah Technical College, in 1986.  He worked several different jobs as a CAD Draftsman.  His last job was at Evans and Sutherland in SLC, UT  from 1989-2000.  He returned back to school at BYU and graduated in 2008 with a BS degree in Marriage, Family and Human Development.  He is a member of the Utah Valley Deaf Ward.  He has served in various church callings.  He has touched the hearts of many of his family, friends and those in the deaf community, as well as, those in the hearing community.   He was an instructor at the MTC and taught ASL and missionary skills to new missionaires (1981-84)  He also taught ASL to students who were attending the university in 1979.     He loved to work on model trains, watch John Wayne movies, and vacation with his family, especailly to Disneyland.  He was a patriot and had a great love for his country and its freedoms.  He was also an avid BYU football fan, loved reading, artwork, camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, and studying the gospel.  He loved being with his family and will be greatly missed and is loved by all those who knew him and loved him.    He is survived by his wife Dulane, his children, their spouses, 6 grandchildren, his mother and his siblings, Shari, Scott and Becki, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his father Grand Molen Woodhouse.  Funeral services were held Tues. Oct. 13, 2009.  Internment at Orem City Cemetery.

I would see David at Sutherland’s once in a while and he was so good to me. Great man will miss him. He had no guile. What a wonderful person!! Will miss him.
