Sel was born to Seldon Price Heidel & Leota Hine Logan

on February 7th, 1951

He graduated from Viewmont High School in 1970 and attended Columbus Community Center.

Sel considered himself a gay man, never married or had children but accepted almost anyone who knocked at his door and was received by all. He had very close relationships with his friends and left all feeling like his favorite.

Sel was born with a learning disability; He took part in a program designed for the deaf and blind and listened to over 2000 audio books and periodicals in his lifetime.

He was initiated into the Minerval degree of Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO) by then, X* Grady Louis McMurtry on May 23rd 1979. Sel said he was Grady’s Black Guard until his death. Sel would continue his initiations in OTO to the VI* degree and took that degree very seriously. He held the OTO and its membership close to his heart.

Sel Loved his dogs Katie, Thelema and Nuit (Same spirit – different incarnations). He loved wearing a camel hair cowboy hat, the planet, gardening, cooking and baking. Sel had the gift of vision and used his visions to create beautiful sculptures which he sold and gifted over the years. Sel was generous with his time and friendship, he enjoyed 3-4” nail extensions and Red and Purple hued fingernail polish. Sel enjoyed his Seniors Out and Proud outings.

Sel was proceeded in Death by his parents, sister (Susan) and brother (Tim), he was also proceeded in death by many dear friends and chosen family.

In his honor

The OTO/EGC will hold a Regional, Public, Requiem Mass and Feast in November or December this year. For those Beloved Heretics who are no longer allowed to attend an official Gnostic Mass celebration, we hope you will attend an Art Show to be held in his honor at a future date to be announced or hold your own personal memorial ceremony.

In his memory

Make and share a gourmet meal with a friend(s), treat your dog like royalty for a day or lifetime, listen to an audio book, dye your whites -pink or purple (undershirts, underwear and socks), support the LGBTQ community, plant a tree or garden or support a community garden, keep him a topic of conversation and share memories, be a better friend and/or donate to Green Peace… and all, safely, under the influence of your favorite substance(s). He set the bar high
