William Robert (Rob) Jensen VIEW PROFILE

William Robert Jensen (Rob) was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and partner, passed away on St. Patrick's day succumbing to an extensive struggle with liver disease.  Rob was born at sunrise on May 28, 1952, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to William and Julie Jensen and soon moved to Bountiful, Utah. He attended Viewmont High School and the University of Utah, studying literature.  A non-conformist from an early age, Rob was always the hippest, the first, and the one who didn't fit any regular pigeon-hole.  He was able to find a comfort zone in most any group.  He got a lot of his irreverence from his maternal grandfather John Lewis.  The Lewis name died with John, but his spirit lived on in Rob.  For a number of years, Rob delighted in political satire, often in the form of letters-to-the editor and music.  He loved to poke fun at the establishment and occasionally took real exception to the local political realities.  He had a deep and instant take on a person's station in life.  If you were his friend you would get an adjustment in perspective from his perception.  He would easily finish his crossword puzzle as though he was writing a paragraph.  Rob was a popular guy, especially with the women in his life.  He ws always quite the ladies man.  He was tall, handsome, and smart with an easy way.  He had a broad range of interest and excellent memory for details.  Rob loved to travel and lived in many countries for awhile, enjoying the beauty and warmth of the vistas.  Every once in a while he would go to Summit County where he fished as a youth with his cousin, Dave.  On a clear day in winter he searched the skies looking for eagles.  He devoted much of his time traveling.  He expecially loved going to Costa Rica with friends.  Rob was a good carpenter, cabinet maker, designer and writer.  He was good at it, but that didn't mean he wanted to do much of it.  He had other affairs to tend to, writing songs and music.  He had a talent for word play and pun.  He put on a infamous and famous CD "Plague of Locusts" and "Hungry?" with the group Turnip Truck, a CD that included "Whiskey for Lunch" a staple of many campfire sing-a-longs.  He was also a stage hand for the Capital Theater.  During that time he was the vice president of the Internationl Alliance of Theater and Stage Employees, local 99 and created the apprenticeship program that is a model across the U.S.  Rob also worked as a bartender at Juniors Tavern for a short time.  Rob's passing to a rising full moon has left many relatives and friends at a loss. He is survived by his son, Jonathan; daughter, Erika: sisters, Anne Sanders and Susan Last;  three grandchildren; loving partner, Cyd Chiba; former wife Sally Owen; close friends, many nephews, nieces, and devoted friends, all who were with him til the end.  Preceded in death by his parents.  The family would like to acknowledge the kindness and support of the staff of the liver care unit at the Uof U hospital , the staf of SL Regional ICU, the staff at Federal Heights Rehabilitation and inspirational hospice care.  Thank you for all being a part of Rob's life.  He loved all of you so much.

Robbie and I were born a day apart.  He was in my home Ward with me and his father baptized both of us when we turned 8 years old.   I will always remember Robbie as a kid that was quick to laugh and made everyone around him laugh too.  I was so sorry to hear that he passed away.  I knew his mom and dad and his sisters well.   Lorraine Child Misener

I miss Robbile very much. I knew him from when I first moved back to Bountiful in 9th grade. We went to the 13th ward, though I can't say we were outstanding Sunday School students. I remember when Robbie got his Eagle Scout citation in church, boy did he try to live that down!

Robbie went astray in high school, hanging out in Salt Lake with older kids. He did eventually graduate, and then went to the U. He was a very popular fellow in his crowd down in Salt Lake. My brother Marc and he were friends throughout the 70's and 80's. He has a son, Jon, from an early marriage, who lives in Salt Lake.

Robbie was one of the smartest, and funniest people I knew in high school. It is so sad to have lost him, I miss him all the time.
