Jon Parkin

JON LEE PARKIN

Jon was born April 7, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He passed away November 21, 1980, while moving his family home from San Francisco.  He was fixing a flat tire on the moving van and was hit by an oncoming car.  He married Becky Parker (Class of "69) in 1974.  The had three children, Kelley born in 1975 in Provo, Jeff born in 1979 in San Francisco and David born in 1980, five weeks after his father's passing.  Jon received his Master's degree from San Francisco State Univerisity, in International Business.  He worked for Japan Express while in California.   He also served as Bishop of the LDS church during these years.  Jon will be remembered for his talents in the arts.  He was the lead in the school musical, "Kiss Me Kate" and played several roles in the school plays.  Known as the kind and gentle giant, he was a friend to all.  Jon  we miss you.

I am so glad to finally know what really happened to Jon Parkin.  I had heard about his death but had never known the cause and though it is very sad to think it could have been avoided I am glad to know that he had children, though their loss has been great.

I agree that Jon was a gentle and sweet man.
