FRED LYNN TUTTLE (1951-2018)

On May 4th, 2018, Fred Lynn Tuttle 66, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant fight with a rare form of cancer.

Born Oct. 27, 1951, in Salt Lake City, to Paul Tuttle and Barbara Anderson, Fred spent most of his childhood in Bountiful, Utah.  Growing up he was a creative boy who had a natural talent for building and fixing things. He loved spending time with his family, especially fishing and working on cars with his dad.  He attended Viewmont High School, where he enjoyed competing on the diving team.  Fred served a mission for the LDS church in the Brazil South Mission from 1970-1972.  Upon returning home he attended the U of U where he received his bachelor's in accounting.  While at the U of U, he met Mary Brinton, and they were married August 9, 1974, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  They had six children, and enjoyed the outdoors, camping trips, and gardening together.

Fred worked for the old Deseret Gym and in both the missionary and payroll departments of the LDS church.  While in the payroll department, Fred wrote his first software program to help facilitate his duties.  Through that experience, he found a life-long interest in computer programming.  For the last 30 years, Fred owned and operated a point-of-sale software company, specific to college bookstores, which allowed him to both pursue his desire to create his own software and be his own boss.  Throughout his career, he valued the relationships he formed with employees and customers.

Fred was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He held various callings throughout his life, and especially enjoyed teaching Gospel Principles and magifying his home teaching assignments.

During the last few years, Fred was able to pursue his love of bike-riding and became an avid cyclist.  He enjoyed takiing long rides and being out in nature.

Survived by his wife; children, Matt(Becky) Tuttle. Jake (Ayca) Tuttle, Joseph (Evana) Tuttle, Emily (Shad) Steggell, Elisa (Seth) LeFevre, and Hyrum (Alina) Tuttle, 17 amazing grandchildren, and his father Paul (Jackie) Tuttle, Preceded in death by mother, and infant sister, Paula Sue Tuttle.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the LDS Humanitarian Fund is always welcome.  Funeral servies will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 from 11 a.m. in the Hollowcrest LDS Buildiing, 10962 North 6400 West, Highland.  A viewing will be held Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 West 11000 North, Highland, and Friday at the church from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.  Burial will be in Wasatch Lawn, Salt Lake City.

Fred was in some of my elementary classes.  I remember he was a very nice kid.  When we were in first or second grade we called him Fred "Turtle" because we misread his name.  I don't remember many of the children in my elementary classes, but he made an impression on me because he was an all around good guy and classmate.

Fred lived down the street just a few houses away from me.  We went to Boulton, So Davis and Viewmont all at the same time.  He had a wonderful family growing up and although I lost touch with him his memory will live on in my heart.  Thoughts and Prayers to his family.

Love,

Sue Wilson McKinley
